Summer Storm Protocol

It wouldn’t be summer swim without a good evening chance of storms, right? With that in mind, today is the perfect time to go over what happens if thunder rolls in during a meet.

The rule is simple: every time thunder is heard, we must pause for 30 minutes from the last sound of thunder. This is a standard safety protocol.

How do you know if the meet is on?

We go by the weather at the pool, so if you haven’t received a message from us, please assume we are moving forward as planned. The general rule of thumb is to judge by your weather at home, but remember—we will always communicate any schedule changes by email.

We do everything we can to complete a meet on the night it’s scheduled. The league allows us to go until 11:00 p.m., and as you can imagine, the time and effort involved in setting up means we’re always going to try our best to get it done that night.

Thanks for your flexibility and understanding as we navigate summer storms together!
